Single and two vehicles? Sold a vehicle lately?

Not counting motorcycles/boats/toys, does/has anyone here owned two vehicles as a single person, and how much use do you get out of them?

How is the used vehicle market now? (especially between gas, the economy, and low new car prices)

We have two, but can't qualify as 'single' owner.

but responding the other question - to get a feel of the used market, check out your local craigslist.

As a buyer, amazing deals. As a seller, my heart sank when I first looked. But yes, I did end up selling via CL as others (dealers, carmax, etc) had only lowball offers for me. At least on CL you deal with the person-in-need directly and can have an honest transaction.

I qualify as a single guy with 2 cars for 3 more day...getting married on Saturday. I have a Ranger with a ladder rack for hauling stuff, and a Buick Regal for hauling people. I find I drive the truck 80% of the time, but do drive the car quite a bit. Because I was single, I was able to have the car classified as a pleasure vehicle for insurance purposes, I have limited mileage I am supposed to drive, but it saves a ton.

Between the two of us we've owned as many as four at a time. One was kept at an airport during the summer so we (I) could fly up instead of driving.

Having a spare can be handy in case your daily driver breaks down, but on the other hand, managing multile vehicles is a pain.

I was single with 2 cars. An F150, and a Saturn SL2. The Saturn got the work week abuse miles piled on it, the F150 was kept for weekend hauling and slopping in the mud...

I still have both, and have since obtained a wife, and a third car, a Ford Focus. LOML drives the Saturn, her car sits waiting for us to shove money into fixing some bad window regulators, a dented fender, and a leaky A/C system...

Our intent is to get the Saturn and the Focus back up into prime shape, and drive the tar out of them, relegating the pickup to weekend duty, and BORG hauls...

I ran for a LOT of years with just an old Jeep CJ-7 and a folding cargo trailer to fill all my automotive needs...

I had a 2 year old RAV/4 and and an 11 year old F150 until a few months ago. Finally sold the F150 because the utility was not enough to justify the garage space it was taking when I can always borrow my dad's F250 if needed...

I outsourced the sales aspect to my sister and her husband because I didn't want to deal with CL people calling me, setting up test drives, etc. and he had just been laid off (now employed). I told them they could keep half of anything over $3000 (the no fuss price I figured I could get). They sold it for $6850 (I was shocked, that was above list when I plugged in my fair evaluation of condition). Gave them a nice chunk of change when they were hurting, and I still pocketed more than expected (plus garage space!).

I briefly had two cars. A Saturn SC and a Ford Ranger. I was single and kept the Ranger parked at my folks' house. Originally I expected to only rent my apt for 6mos to a year at best, then I was going to buy a house and I would need the truck for hauling stuff. A few months at my apt and I decided I wasn't quite ready for a house yet so I sold the truck.
