Just a Thought I had while working....

Of course I have a lot of time to think about things at work and when I heard a commercial for one of those on-line dating services. They said that if you didn't find someone or make a match in 6 months that they would give you 6 months free. Okay why would you want another 6 months if the FIRST 6 months didn't work? Just wondering.

Good question--I don't know. I found someone my very first date, within a week of signing up on match.com. We have been dating for 3 months now, so far so good.

I cancelled my subscription right away, so I guess they are a victim of their own success.

I am glad that you have found someone. It was just one of those weird thoughts I have had at night when there are no customers and I am cleaning around the store and hear something like that one the radio.

That reminds me of this funny comment on match.com from a 42-y.o. woman:

"Unfortunately match.com has been a total let down for me. I don't think I am compatable with most men because I ride a Harley. I really gotta have a guy that rides because that's a BIG part of my life. I'm on the RMH Cruise committee for raising money for the sick kids. I also just joined the Patriot Guard to support troops and their families. Both of these committments require a motorcycle.

"I am not attracted to men much older than me, in fact I would like to go younger since I am a teenager still.

"I am not attracted to overweight and out of shape guys. I think I still keep myself up pretty good so I would like the same!!

"Actually...I don't even want a boyfriend right now. I am too busy with my advertising job and selling ebay at night. My friends and family are taking up the rest of the time. That's the truth and I am going to cancel this subscription forever when it runs out soon.

        "Good luck to everyone!"

I did the online dating thing for a bit, and for the most part they were disasters. I met LOML on a blind date set up by a rather nutso former coworker, ex roomate's ex girlfriend... I REALLY didn't want to go, but we really clicked when we got together. Same values, ethics etc...

Well, Melissa, that'll teach you to think when you're supposed to be working. Now you won't sleep at night.

I never did the online dating thing or did I even go to a dating service. That said, I did agree to go on a blind date once as a favour for a friends little sister. How did that one work out? Well, just ask my blind date. We have been married for 21 years this year.

I hate when I can't sleep at night. And sometimes the thoughts going on in my head do keep me up at night.

Reminds me of the quiz show with 2 prizes.

Okay, gotta spill the beans. SWMBO and I met 13 years ago next week because of an ad she placed on an AOL dating forum.

I didn't even have a car at the time (got one the next week), so I took a bus from Anniston, AL to Montgomery, AL to meet her. Her family was gracious enough to allow me the use of the guest room.

3 weeks later, I think we got engaged, she said yes, but I never asked the question. During the week when I was in north Alabama, we were emailing constantly. Sort of like the tradition of letter writing while courting. We just used electrons instead of lead and ink. I would come to Montgomery almost every weekend. When I couldn't make it down here, she would come up and stay with a friend.

Our 12th anniversary was this past Dec.

Would I do it this way now, probably not, but I can't knock someone else getting dates this way.
