    Hard Times

Just got a call. I lost my consulting job. It was only 6-10 hours a week, but there goes my tool money.
    regards,

That's a bummer. What kind of consulting was it? I did some support work here and there for a friend of my dad's but that has dried up too.

The chief cause of failure in this life is giving up what you want most for what you want at the moment.

Sorry to hear you lost your tool money. Let's hope it doesn't get any worse.

That sux, man. just when you get more time to spend in the shop, you have to do it with less tools. Hopefully something else will turn up.

i am sorry to hear that. i hope that something will come around the corner soon.

times are getting hard. i dont think we have seen the worse of this yet. we just layed off a couple of people in my department of 12 people. its become real slow for us. i certainly hope that we can get a building or two in before the end of the year, so we all have something forward to looking for starting next year...

That stinks. Hopefully whatever recession we're experiencing is short and shallow.

I am afraid its the end of the road professionally. I have been extremely fortunate that after I was asked to retire during a previous slow down, I got a call recruiting my services on a part time basis. From now on it's SS and a severely whacked 401k.
We were a heck of a lot worse off when LOML and I tied the knot 41 years ago.

View it as a positive. Instead of buying more tools, use the time to increase your skill level with the ones you have. Then when you get a new one, you will A. Really be needing it and B. Hopefully be much better at using it.

Also take more time out to enjoy the people you love, not just the shop.
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

I had a lot of unplanned shop time for 2 years. Hard to enjoy it under those circumstances, so I feel for you!

I lost my consulting job recently too, I was however fortunate that I could change my benefits at work to put most of that cash back into the budget in 09...

Something that we don't have enough of in this world is a source for inexpensive Gallery frames for deep canvases...

Oh, I just had an idea... off to a new post

I know the feeling...I have been out of work since June. I look everyday, have applied to hundereds of jobs, but nothing solid yet. Sometimes having a degree and experience is bad....it seems so in this economy.
