Scrap Ply

I stopped by a cabinet shop on my way home last night to check the 'scrap' pile. They put their plywood on pallets and set it by the road for picking before it goes to the dumpster. No schedule, so it is 'hit and miss' on what you will find.

Last night was a 'hit'. Mixture of Maple, Lyptus, and Cherry plys. The bottom piece is 40"x70" Cherry.



Wish I could find out what they do with the hardwood drops...

Nice haul, Pappy. If they consider a 40 x 70 piece "scrap", then you gotta make more room in your woodpile...

That was a good haul Don. You've got to wonder why a 40"x70" sheet was trashed. I think I posted here about a "free" load of Parana Pine I got at the Port. It filled an 8'x10' flatbed about 3' deep, widths from 6" to 10". Didn't find out til I got it back to the shop and really looked at it that it was abandoned because of insects. I had to get the stack fumigated. Still a cheap price to pay.

I usually don't throw too much away. I try to save stuff according to size, cause you never know when you'll need something. But I'm one of the worst pack rats. You probably already know I still have my baby shoes.

No offense but if it was me, I wouldn't tell a soul till I'd filled all the stroage I had AND I might even build a new shed just to store the stuff Of course I gotta believe them throwing out "scraps" 40"X70" is a one off, otherwise they'll be broke before long.
