    What's This????

Some of my basic PC security stuff is up for renewal, and lately I have been getting emails from supposed classmates, old friends, neighbors, and assorted other senders. Of course my security denies delivery, and the reason is a virus called (Storm Worm @MXLM).

Has anyone heard of this, or is it just something the security came up with when renewals are due to make you think they are saving your computer.

    Cab,

Storm Worm is a trojan. It was distributed by spam email that had a storm Warning in the title line. I think there is a microsoft patch that stops it.

Thanks. I think you're right - Trojan. I'm constantly getting interrupted by notices of updates, that you'd think something would be in those downloaded files. Anyway, why does the notice for that always happen while I'm in the middle of something, instead of when the PC is idle or "sleeping".

My security subscription is not up for renewal, but it has intercepted several attempts to deliver that trojan in the last couple of weeks. Just something going around.

The only time I had a virus was when I had virus protection. I haven't had any problems since it expired almost 5 years ago. I do not open any emails that have an attachment.

I have gotten a number of "A greeting card has been sent to you by a classmate." These end up in my Bulk mail. They usually have a legit Email card company as the sender. Did a scan on one ad it was a Trojan.
