About a year ago, I put a new countertop and floor in my kitchen. I mis-measured one counter, and one side was aout 3" too long (thankfully not short). NBD, I just moved one panel out 3" and planned to fill the gap with a trim piece. Anyway, as most projects do, that little detail got put off, especially since the big boxes don't carry maple.
Flash forward to this week. LOML wanted it filled prior to family visiting this week. I went to a local plywood dealer, and they had a scrap bin out front. I found a 4" x 36" piece of maple, ALREADY STAINED the exact color I needed.
I paid a whopping $.30 for it! I trimmed it, rabbeted one side, and was done in about 30 minutes. I had planned to sand, stain, wait, finish, sand, finish. Wow, what a deal. I should probalby play the lottery today.
