I thought the helicopter chainsaw in the 1999 James (007) Bond thriller The World is Not Enough was much more frighteneing and of course a much better video quality. The bad guys were logging in the Caspian Forests with it but took time off to try and kill 007 on some wooden docks, cutting a few buildings and a car or two in half while trying.
James manages to evade them and make them crash which disintegrates the saw with the blades (sort of like the ones in the YouTube vid but much larger and rigidly attached to the Helo) flying everywhere like 50 Odd Job hats except with WoodWorker II carbide teeth and 3 foot diameter.
      Anyone remember that scene?

Yeah, totally awsome!. Wonder what powers it. Sure a neat job of flying too, that close to all those "spark'y wires".

I'd sure hate to be hiking around there when one of those came through.

That is very cool. And I do remember the James Bond scene. I sure hope that wasn't a real car.

That blows my mind ... I designed heavy off-road forestry products for 10 years and never saw anything like this ...

The question I'd like to know is this ... what are the manufacturers lawsuits like, and what's the liability insurance to operate a rig like this?

That's left me speechless ... I had to forward this video on to others in my engineering department ... they wouldn't have believed it otherwise.

Shows how far a little imagination and "outside-the-box" thinking can go.

Reminds me of one of my first jobs in high school, working at a privately owned Christmas tree farm out in the sticks.

Don't know if you know what a Gravely lawn mower looks like, but picture a big roto-tiller, but instead of tines rotating vertically, replace it with a 36" horizontal shroud & blade (a la 36" brush hog).

Now cut the front half of the shroud off, replace the grass blade with a 24" or 36" saw blade, and hang on.

Not going to describe any more, other than to say that if my parents ever saw this setup, I would have been looking for a new job. (but I could make a row of Christmas trees drop in no time).

Ahhh, the 60's.....things were so much simpler then...
