Hi Larry
Just wondered if You knew if they were issuing an out of state permit to hunt gators. I saw some of them on our local news and they look big enough for boots and jerky for a couple of years, maybe even a laptop case.

Don't know. The hunt continues until this weekend and I did hear that was some kind of course that had to be taken to get the permit. So far, I think the biggest one taken was about 12' and 600 lbs.
In the local paper, we have a "sound-off" section where people call in and express their opinions on EVERYTHING and it gets printed. This past Sunday a woman called in very up set that the poor little gators were hunted.
Remember, you don't have yo wait to shoot a gator to come back and visit!!!!

The thing about huntin gators is that you don't need stealth. Just go fishin around here at a decent spot and they are likely to be huntin you.
A while back, LOML and I were at the beach. There was a swampy area between two rows of beach houses. Gators live there and are plentiful. There were two kids playing in the tall grass next to the swamp when we were driving by. I spotted an 8 footer about 10' from one of the kids and slammed on the brakes. I pointed to it and the kids hightailed back home. He was sunning on the bank and I guarantee he had lunch in his sights. I harrassed him enough for him to get back in the water. Then we called and they said "Oh, that's Henry." The vacationer's feed him all the time. I said Henry is now big enough to feed himself and almost did. They came and took him out. There were still at least 6 other gators in there that were about 4' or less and those were just the ones I could spot in the water.
They are definately a pest around where Guests are vactioning. Most have never had any dealings with them. I have seen gators run in short bursts and if they catch you unaware, they got ya.

Um, pardon my Northern ignorance, but if you do happen to bag a gator, how are you going to get it home on a bicycle?
