Not much woodworking lately, but am getting plenty of tool time

My honey-do list has been a little daunting lately. It's quite likely that I won't have time for any woodworking projects this year, but I've definitely been giving the tools a run for their money. Last week I installed two new sets windows on the front of the house (...actually 6 windows according to the receipt....my first window installation), and this week I built some new outdoor steps to the pool.

Here are pics of the steps nearly finished:

Next up is to rebuild the deck, and build a patio out of paver stones:

The rain and the oppressive heat haven't helped much!

The windows look great. Nice work. What kind are they? Speaking of patios, that's our next project. We had to remove our pavers to get the install from septic to sewer. I may just farm it out.

Pavers and deck-building are two of those things I'd recommend hiring someone to do. I've done both exactly once (ditto roofing and carpet laying) and personally, I'd rather spend my time elsewhere.

The windows are MI (Metal Industries) "Xact" signature series 1555....we looked into Champion, Simonton Prism, Pella Thermastar, Anderson, Reliabuilt (by Atrium) and Cutting Edge (also by MI) before deciding on these...we love 'em so far.

I'd have loved to hire the deck and patio done, but we're having the driveway done this year too (hired that out), and it's all been expensive....doing some of it myself means we can almost afford it.....hiring it out means we can't. I'm definitely never doing our roof again though!

          Progress report...

I've been hitting the back yard projects pretty hard the past couple of weeks. I've resurfaced the deck, built new rails, and added side skirts to it....still need to stain the rails and sides, and maybe make some decorative post caps if Amy wants them. I've moved about 5 yards of gravel in the past week for the patio and have that fairly well leveled, packed, and pitched. I had some extra some dumped some of that around the pool and made a walk-way from the old stones we dug up where the patio is going. 2 yards of stone dust is coming tomorrow night.

          Here are some updated pics:
