    Ridgid Drill Stuck Chuck!!!

How do I fix my Ridgid Drill Keyless Chuck that is stuck in a Wide Open position? It does not want to close for anything.

what if you use 2 sets of pilers in opposite directions. maybe some penetrating oil will help too.
if you can't get it loose a new one is only $30. they are a universal part.

I would get in touch with Ridgid before you go buying anything, especially if it is under warranty.

I once had the same problem with an electric drill and it was the screw inside the chuck that attaches it to the shaft that had loosened up and all I had to do was tighten it and all was well. If I rememer correctly the screw was a left hand thread. Could this be your problem?

two pipe wrenches ought to break it loose. Just go easy.

I've had to destroy them to get them apart in the past. if it's stuck really well then it's replacement time.

Thanks everyone for the help. I also used a pair of pipe wrenches. Your right Tom, it looks as if a replacement is needed.
                Thanks Again

keep in mind that the screw in the center is left-hand thread, the chuck will be normal right-hand thread though.
