  • Grizzly BS blade tensioner on a HF BS

This was actually Thom's idea so I can't take credit for it. But... Thom having the Ridgid BS and me with a HF both of which are a semi-pain to de-tension compared to the Griz and Delta. He came up with the idea to order the parts from Griz an modify our saws.
Cost was about $30 total. Took me about 3 hours of piddling.
Here is the finished product and a link to the rest of the pictures. and the the Griz web site. http://bt3gallery.cpu-etc.com/main.php?g2_itemId=1685 http://www.grizzly.com/ Click on product manuals and go to the GO555 manual. Pat

    Pat,

That's a very nice job you did. I opted to go with a home made crank handle for the tension, but this is a bit more elegant solution. I think I got out cheaper, but this is a bit better looking, which I'd sometimes prefer. Did you add an Iturra spring?

Nope, for now I just stayed with the factory spring. Pat

Looks good Pat. I've been thinking of adding it to mine as well. I think I'll go for it now that I see how well it went with yours.

Great mod, Popeye (with a big tip of the hat to Thom, too). And cheap enough, too.

But I'll bet you've already discovered, as I have on my G0555, that Grizzly sure was chintzy with the length of that handle. Another 4" of length would have made it MUCH easier to throw. (I sometimes slip a short piece of 3/4" PVC pipe over mine, as a cheater.)

Wow, $30? Nice upgrade. Can you help my lazy self and let us know which part numbers you had to order?

                Thanks!

Tim, thanks for asking, I wondered the same thing but was too lazy to even ask.

I'll post what I ordered and Pat can correct/ammend the items when he has time:

Here is a segment of the parts diagram for the item #'s:

                            Format:
                            Item, Part#, Quantity, Description
                            33, P0555033, 1, Tension Knob Bolt
                            133, P0555133, 1, Lever Rod
                            135, P0555135, 1, Bushing

Additional Items that you will need (I didn't order them as I will purchase them locally).

                            2) 5/15-18 bolts 3/4"
                            1) 5/16-18 button cap screw 3/4"

Thanks! I see this upgrade in my near future...

Now one more dumb question -- where do you order the parts? Somewhere online?

Anyone else suspect Grizzly's gonna be backordered on these parts very soon?
