Upgrading Ryobi 12 inch drill press to link belt

I had the leftover links from the HF lathe upgrade, so decided to check if my Ryobi drill press used the same belt. It did, and here's the little project video. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for another useful video Bill. I have the same DP and my digital speed readout has stopped working. The led panel lights up but there is no readout, any ideas?

Somewhere a few years ago (10? or so), I found 3/8 in link belts. I bought some. I was in Japan at the time but I bought them at either HF or Grizzly. The 3/8 in worked better on my DP than the 1/2. The 1/2 just seemed like most of the belt was outside the groove than in it. The 3/8 fit and worked fine. Still is.

Hi Jon, does your readout display 0, or nothing at all? I don't know if this model uses the hall effect sensor, but I'll try to look at mine a little more closely tomorrow and see if I can find it.

Hey Jon, I couldn't dig into it on the actual drill press however I looked up the parts diagram at ereplacementparts.com and found 2 parts listed that may be contributing. The first is item 55 sensor and the second is item 116 which may also include the sensor. It's not readily clear how to access these parts since they're embedded in the headstock of the drill press.

Just a guess, but I'd suspect some kind of problem in the display circuitry, which is part of the item 116 I mentioned above. Not a cheap part though, so hard to recommend you order without knowing if it is the problem.
