Question about switch on Saw Stop

I have read somewhere that there is a switch on the Saw Stop for cutting green wood that effectively disengages the safety feature of the saw. Does it self re-engage after the cut is finished or does the operator have to reset it? Just curious not owning one myself and knowing that we have some on the forum that have them.

i'm pretty sure that I've read and I'm also sure that it would be designed so that the saw always comes up in the safety function engaged mode and you have to push the switch to defeat it when turning it on. A subsequent use w/o pushing the switch at turn-on would have it come on with the safety mode engaged again.

Makes sense and that is what I would hope would be the case for user safety...

It would be a real pain for someone using that saw for pt wood if they forgot to reset it though....

I can't find the video right now, but I have seen one. There is a key you turn, before starting the Sawstop, to defeat the safety (for wet or metallic material). Once the off switch is hit, it then is back into safety mode. I wish Sawstop had a better video on this as theirs is 8 seconds.

My son has a Saw Stop and the safety system can be disabled for wet wood and it reactivates each time the saw is turned off so it is active when the saw is started next.

That makes sense considering the technology of the saw.

There's no doubt, but it would certainly be a dumb moment and financially painful... we have all done some procedure where we skipped a step and ended up having to make do.... in this case, if you didnt have a spare cartridge handy you were out your shop time!

A key operated switch on the right side of the switch assembly is used to defeat the safety feature, you simply turn it and you have defeated the safety feature of the saw. The key switch is spring-loaded and returns back to its off position after you release it. And indeed, once you have started the saw and turned it off again, the saw is back in the safety mode. So providing you don't keep the saw running you can only make one cut at a time in the bypass mode.
I tried several times to upload a picture of the switch assembly, but the upload fails every time.
                      Cheers!

I got a SawStop a few months ago and you ar right about the switch and one-time use. I have used it a few times and each time, it is RTFM to get it right. IIRC, you turn the switch and watch the blinkling light. Then turn the saw on. Once the saw is turned off, it is back to normal.

I edited my post by adding a picture to my earlier post in this thread, but the thread does not show again when you log in again after posting. (hope this makes sense)
So let me add the image in this separate post and see if the thread will show up.
By the way the only way you can confirm you posted the image is by checking "preview post". And how do you add more narrative after an image?
