    using a lathe as a drum sander

    has anyone ever used a lathe to make a drum sander, any ideas as to how to do that?

    Actually I have seen that. The drum part is pretty east since you have a lathe. The hard part was the bed to push the stock on. The bed went underneath and just sort of slid up and down with wing nuts and slots. Pivot on one side, slots on the other. The bed is attached to the bed on the lathe. Stock is pushed from the back to the front of the lathe to avoid sheet-rock repairs..

    I built a drum sander instead of trying to incorporate my lather into a sander. That was around 8 yrs ago and she's still going strong.
