the market on them, I can't build all I can sell! They make great gifts, I've probably given away more than I've sold. If anyone is interested in building them I will be glad to share the building techniques, jig building and finishing things I have learned.

What exactly is Ambrosia Maple? I recently bought some maple labeled as "rustic maple" that appears to be similar to that top--though not as deeply colored as yours. The top of this box is this "rustic maple" which I love and it's $1/bf cheaper than regular maple, which I think is bizarre. The top does have a tung oil finish, FWIW.

Ambrosia maple is from a tree that has been infested with the ambrosia beetle. It bores in and does beetle things. The boards from that tree look like they were shot with a shotgun. The beetle makes dark streaks in the wood. This wood is probably no good for commercial furniture manufacturers but it looks cool for hobbiests.

Hmm...sounds like exactly the same stuff. There are dark streaks and holes all over the stuff I have. I love it and it's cheaper than regular maple. Locally they must just call it by another name.

          Beautiful tables, by the way.

Thanks Carl. I appreciate that. I am going to give it a try between now and Christmas.
