First Project Ever 41 years ago.

A recent post got me thinking about my first project ever. Astonishingly, I still have it and use it in the garage almost every day. I made this as a 4H project for the county fair when I was 10 and received a red ribbon. No power tools were involved in the building of it and even though the finish has taken a beating in the last 40 years, it probably looks better than it did when new.

Nice looking stool. Too bad this kind of projects are not presented to kids now.
Twistsol, this might make an interesting thread, others might like to show their first projects and see what fellow members built.

I think that is a great idea. Who else is brave enough to post their first ever project if you still have it or an old photo? I know mine would have fallen apart years ago had my dad not insisted that I follow the plan meticulously.

I posted mine and Kangaman posted a fine entry in this thread finished-projects/61526-first-project-ever

I made these for my Mother at the YMCA shop when I was about 10 or 11. The horse was from a pattern for a stage setting from my Brother's senior class stage show. 55 + years have taken their toll on the pine horses with missing tails and broken off legs. I also have a curio cabinet that was the last thing I made for her.

Let me guess Don, did you use a coping saw to cut that?

No, they were made on a band saw. That was one of the first power tools we were taught to use.
