    A new "floating" frame

Here is a frame I made for a friend's watercolor--he is a doc who had to retire because of a medical condition. I asked him to paint a fly-fishing pic for me. When I got it, I found he had painted both sides--he said he does this to save paper!

I like both of them, so decided to make a frame that would display each side. It is a simple design, each member slanted about 10 degrees--really 2 identical frames attached back to back with screws. The wood is quality pine, the finish 2 coats of Danish oil followed by a couple of coats of shellac (the first diluted amber), then polished with paste wax.

Is the painting sandwiched between 2 pieces of glass?

Looks great Jeff. I like you're solution for the double-sided. I've been meaning to try something like this to float other things (awards, certificates, etc.) but haven't gotten there yet.

Yep. Worked out better than I thought it would.

I thought about making the attachment between the 2 frames invisible, but I like the industrial/rustic look of the Kreg screws. I can take it apart and put in a new picture anytime if I want.
