    Finished low coffee/game table

Construction details can be seen in this thread:

This forum is the place to ask questions about a project you are working on or are planning.

I simply hand sanded the base to ease over all the sharp corners with some 220 sandpaper. That was followed by 4 wipe on coats of Waterlox and finally a coat of beeswax/mineral oil rubbed out with 0000 steel wool for a very nice finish. The top was an off cut of butcher block that I had already finished, I just sealed the cut ends with the Waterlox. The top is attached to the base with figure 8 fasteners.

My wife pointed out the kids will probably cram things into the cracks but I'm ok with that. It is a game table afterall.

Very nice, I love the dark legs and the light top. Good job.

        Finish came out great, Paul.

Aside - you know you need a 12-step program when you see a table top like that and think, "That would look great with dog-holes and an end-vise!"

          Paul,

Very nice looking table. I'm sure it will get a lot of use as a "game" table is especially nice have.

Love the butcher block top, as it will work very well when 'tossing the dice' and it offers some pretty good room for a rousing game of Monopoly or whatever the family favorites might be.

I too like the bulky leg style as it really sets off the top.

Nicely done, and I'm sure your family will enjoy it for many years to come,

Nice job, I very much like the design with the cutout for the legs. I may be copying this later in the year.
