    A Couple of Boxes

We just got back from a trip to Europe to see family. I made these boxes for presents for 2 of my nieces for special birthdays.

The first is a bandsaw box in cherry using the Tsunami design by Lois Ventura, I really like her designs and intend to make more along the same lines.

This second box incorporates cherry, white oak, mahogany and a little maple (in the handle). I did experiment a little with the inlaid mahogany and fell foul of some bad chip out in the white oak, hence the featured cherry corner :-) Not sure I will try the same thing again.

Beautiful work Jon. What are the dimensions of that Band Saw box?

What size riser do you have on your saw, or is it a big one already?

I have the PM 14" bandsaw with the 6" riser installed giving 12" vertical capacity.

                      I like em a lot.
If you had not told us the corner was a mistake, I would have thought it very creative and nice looking. That is the sign of a true craftsman BTW. Figure out a way to fix it that may even look better tan the original would have.

I did something similar on purpose of one of my chess boards many years ago.
BTW I sold this board to one of the Doctors that helped design the original Bowflex.

Nice, did you try and trade for a top of the line Bowflex system, that would be cool :-)
