    The 5 Sisters

Just completed the "5 Sisters" tables for the art studio in Appalachicola Fla. that is currently selling them for me. Wood is pine, cherry, black gum and cypress. The black gum turned out way prettier than the cypress and cherry, and the antique pine always turns out good. Most requests for tables are antique pine but I've exhausted my supply and really want to get away from the nasty resin that destroys sandpaper and cakes up blades!

Those look great Cap. I'm also interested in your build details.
I remember seeing more of your table work from this post back in the 2014 build thread. Did you ever sell those, or are they headed out to your new seller as well?

Nice. From left to right is it pine, cherry, black gum, pine, cypress?

Construction details soon. When I retired in July I lost my Acad and haven't gotten it or Sketchup back yet. Boy I never thought Id say I would miss Acad!

These tiny tables make nice gifts.

Nice job! I'd like to see a closeup of just one table, to see a bit more detail of your construction. I particularly like the looks of the middle one.

The sixth sister. I had enough time to finish #6 before packing for delivery. This Tiny Table is same design as the other 5, constructed from Sinker Cypress that I bought in Perry Fla. earlier this year. Even though it is the same wood as its other cypress sister with golden oak stain its special walnut stain does really make it stand out.

As requested, close up of the black gum Tupelo Tiny Table. I purchased one 12" x 9' black gum plank for $20 from a local sawyer that cuts and kiln drys trees from local tree surgeons. I was really suprised at the grain and how well it works. It does burn badly, almost as bad as cherry but cleans up nicely. I will try to purchase more of this wood if it is available, and if the table is recieved well at the Art studio and its customers.

Another photo of details, I do not have a clue how it posted duplicate photo.
Note the slight gap in the leg/apron jointery, After building dozens of tables using this design I've worked on tightening up this joint with little success. I found the problem to be my over aggressive sanding of the top of the legs, inadvertently rounding the joint area, thus the small gap. Now I know better.
