    Newly finished wine rack

I just finished this wine rack this past weekend. I must say I am quite pleased with how this turned out overall. First time using molding to finish a piece. To make the interlocking diagonal slats, I used a jigsaw to cut the slots out slightly undersized, and then I used some files to get the right fit. The rack is built from pine finished with Minwax #233 English Chestnut and two coats of tung oil.

The corner joints could be a little tighter. Also next time I am going to glue on the molding instead of using brad nails and a nail gun. A couple of nails did not go all the way in, so I used a hammer to finish and that just made the nails bend.

I do have several pictures of this rack in the process of being built. I wasn't too sure where I could post those.

First thought was, "But it's empty....."

    Then you solved that!

Good job! A smaller version would make a good entry into our 2x6 contest......
