Well, I started this project in December, and it is finally finished! It is based on a Woodsmith plan. While constructing it, I found out that it was too short for my height, so I added the feet. It is made of reclaimed oak and MDF with a formica insert. The center base, is hollow and allows you to fill it with sand to make it virtually impossible to move and dampen vibration. It is full of mistakes and oops, but everyone that has seen it can't seem to understand why I would make it so nice for a shop. I just tell them I am inspired by Rod Kirby! So, now I have my lathe bench....it is time to learn how to turn!

Looks good. If you find that it won't fit in your shop I can make room for it. -
