Newbie Fireplace surround and miter slot

Regards everyone. Extremely helpful site. Thanks to everyone for the trove of articles and forum messages. Only wish I had discovered the site before I bought a BTS15. Oh well.
Finally got up the nerve to post a few pics of an almost finished fireplace surround and cupboards (stained but not yet varnished). The wood is just inexpensive pine with birch ply for the door panels.
The last picture shows a miter slot addition to the BTS15 in place of the sliding miter table (Thanks to Rod Kirby for showing the way) so that I can use a couple of old slot type jigs. The BTS15 will have to do until I can justify the bucks for the BT3100 grown-up version.

Hey Scot, that looks great! I especially like the hidden booze compartment hehe

The miter slot looks good too. I'll have to make one sometime for the BT...

Glad your BTS15 is working out for ya!

Excellent job Scot and I mean excellent. I'd be proud of that for sure. Love the colors.

                      Awesome! Looks very nice!

I myself just got started on remodeling our fireplace and we
got all the materials (fluted column, wide dentil molding etc) only yesterday
and the finishing is same as yours..

Thanks for all the encouraging words. Though I can see I've got a long way to go when I look at the work being turned out by Hunter and Tundra Man and the rest of you bunch. Onward and Upwards!!
